The Minnesota Birth Center is very pleased to announce that we will begin seeing mothers who desire a trial of labor after a cesarean birth, (TOLAC)!
Our commitment to providing this care is realized now that we have a group of consulting physicians available 24/7 at United Hospital. Previously this was not possible with the call schedule of our physician colleagues at Associates in Women’s Health at Abbott Northwestern.
Mothers must not have had more than two previous cesarean births, with a low-transverse incision.
The labor and birth will be at United Hospital, but we will see mothers for routine pregnancy care in both our Minneapolis and St. Paul birth centers.
Please do consider MBC when evaluating your provider options.
UPDATE: Effective March 25th, MBC is not attending TOLACs or any other hospital birth due to COVID-19. If you are planning a TOLAC with a late summer or beyond due date, you are welcome to register with the Minnesota Birth Center for your prenatal care. However, please note that if we have not regained our hospital presence by the end of your pregnancy we will not be able to attend your TOLAC. Instead, we would ensure a seamless transfer of care to a hospital-based midwifery or obstetrics practice.
