Perinatal Care

Perinatal Care

At the Minnesota Birth Center we believe in a holistic and comprehensive model of pregnancy care.  Steve Calvin, our medical director, is board certified in OB/GYN and the sub-specialty of Maternal-Fetal Medicine.  As founder of the MBC he strongly supports a natural pregnancy care model.  But he also has 35 years of experience in caring for mothers and babies with the range of complications that can develop during pregnancy.  Even if complications develop we believe that you and your baby deserve a compassionate mix of high-tech and high-touch care.

Clients from any practice have access to Dr. Calvin’s expertise through consultations and through regular ultrasound and perinatal consultation clinics held at both sites.   An early ultrasound scan may be advised to confirm viability and dating of your pregnancy.  A midwife will perform this early scan. We also recommend a complete 20 weeks scan to check on fetal growth and anatomy.  These scans are performed by our experienced ultrasound techs and the results are reviewed by Dr. Calvin.

MBC ultrasound and perinatal consultation services are available to any mother and appointments can be arranged by contacting us.  If an outside ultrasound suggests that your unborn baby has a lethal problem or you have questions about perinatal hospice services offered by the MBC a no-cost phone conversation can be arranged with Dr. Calvin.
