Midwifery is founded on the premise that pregnancy and birth are normal, physiologic events in a woman’s life that leave a profound impact. At the Minnesota Birth Center our approach when caring for you is guided by our belief that women should have the opportunity and support to plan for natural and empowering experiences in a safe and soothing environment.
Certified Nurse-Midwives are Board Certified health professionals whose expertise is providing care for well-women and minor primary care illness as well as during pregnancy, labor and birth. Our scope of practice includes the evaluation and examination of your newborn in the initial days after birth.
Midwives are trained in a wellness model, believing that in partnering with women and their families, we can achieve optimal outcomes together. This happens during the course of your maternity experience as we build a relationship of trust with each other, sharing information and decision-making and recognizing the active role that both midwives and families commit to each other with during this precious time. Your MBC care team helps provide education, support, consultation and referral, when appropriate, in order to help you to make informed plans about what’s best for you and your family.
