Why Families Transfer to MBC

Our midwives are committed to safe, family-centered care that keeps your goals at the forefront. You might consider switching if:

  • You feel unheard or your questions aren’t being answered.
  • Your birth preferences (like waterbirth) aren’t supported.
  • You’re uncomfortable with your provider’s suggested treatment.
  • You feel “like a number” instead of a valued individual.
  • Financial transparency isn’t prioritized.
  • Doulas aren’t encouraged or allowed.
  • Your birth philosophy has shifted during pregnancy (that’s okay!).

If your current prenatal care doesn’t align with your needs, MBC is here to tailor a birth experience that feels right for you.

What You Need to Know About Transferring to MBC

We warmly welcome transfer of care with the following guidelines:

  • Your first visit must be scheduled no later than 32 weeks and 6 days of pregnancy.*
  • Arrange for your prenatal records to be sent to MBC once your first visit is on the calendar (records must be received before your appointment).
  • Attend an MBC Orientation, if possible, before your visit.
  • Review the list of conditions that may prevent you from birthing at MBC.
  • If this is your first birth, plan to take outside childbirth education and/or secure doula support.
  • Transfer clients are conditionally accepted until their medical records are reviewed at the transfer visit.

*Exceptions to the 32+6 week requirements may be made in special circumstances. Please email us with your details (age, pregnancy number, current provider, reason for transfer, and any concerns) so we can discuss your options.
