About our House

Built in 1911, our Victorian style house has been home to many families during it’s 100 years of life.  Our purchase of the home took place in March 2010, and we have since remodeled the space to accommodate our birth center needs.  Although the majority of the building needed extensive upgrades, we were able to keep much of the historical integrity intact.

Since the late 19th century, Chicago Avenue in Minneapolis has had a rich health care history.  The Northwestern Hospital for Women and Children opened at the corner of 27th Street East and Chicago Avenue in 1887, and over the years medical and social services continued to locate along the corridor.  Today, Chicago Avenue is home to the Philips Eye Institute, Hennepin County Medical Center, Children’s Hospital and Clinics, Abbott Northwestern Hospital, and now the Minnesota Birth Center.
